Athletics at Waterford High School

Participating in athletics improves physical and mental wellness, and establishes a foundation for lifelong fitness habits. Students who play sports report that they feel more connected to their school and peers, and have a greater sense of self confidence.

Team sports provide the opportunity to build relationships with peers, learn teamwork, and practice good sportsmanship.

All athletes at Waterford High School are expected to show good character on an off the field, and meet the academic requirements for participation.

Waterford High School is home to a thriving athletics program that helps students remain active, establish connections with peers, and compete for scholarships. In the past several years, our Wildcat teams have won a variety of championship titles, including section championships in football, boys' cross country, competitive cheer, boys' soccer, baseball, and track and field.

Students at WHS are encouraged to remember that participating in school athletic programs is voluntary and being a part of a team is a privilege that each student must earn. When a student chooses to become part of an athletic program, they recognize that practices and games will take time out of each day from their studies. By participating in athletics at WHS, students realize that they are student athletes. Their academics are the first priority and athletics come second. Maintaining academic eligibility is the responsibility of each student athlete here at our school.

Eligibility to participate in any sport is based on a 2.0 Grade Point Average (GPA).
