THANK YOU TIM BOMGARDNER
Waterford Unified School District would like to thank and acknowledge Tim Bomgardner for 17 years of exceptional service to the district as a School Board Trustee. Tim is a Waterford native, whose own children attended and graduated from Waterford’s schools. His deep love of education and genuine care for our town’s students led to his election to the school board in 2005. During his time on the school board, Tim has overseen the district’s transition between four different Superintendents: Frank Cranley, Howard Cohen, Don Davis, and José M. Aldaco. He, along with his fellow board members, has contributed hundreds of hours each year to the school district by crafting policies, hiring exceptional administrators, listening to staff and community concerns, and recognizing outstanding programs. The time Tim has spent in board meetings represents just a small fraction of the time he devoted to leading the district. He has also spent countless hours attending seminars and trainings to be kept abreast of the latest trends in education leadership, and supporting community and school extracurricular events. Additionally, Tim was fundamental in bringing the STARS Truancy Operation Project (STOP) to the district, which focused on finding positive corrections to improve student attendance, and he also served the community as a D.A.R.E. officer for a number of years.
“Like all our board members, Tim’s primary driving force has always been to support student achievement and the success of the district,” said Superintendent Aldaco. “I would like to extend our sincere thanks to Tim for his many years of selfless and exceptional service. We hope his retirement allows him to spend more time at home with his children and wife, Susan.”
